A few of the most romantic location’s and venue’s on Dartmoor | Bovey Castle and Brentor Church
Beautiful and Romantic locations on Dartmoor
The romance of Dartmoor with its windswept views, wild roaming pony’s and tiny churches is the perfect place for a portrait session and add in a luxurious stay at Bovey Castle, some photos in the perfectly manicured grounds and you have yourself the dream country break.
What’s better than an invigorating walk in the wild beauty of the moors and returning to the cathedral room at Bovey Castle for Cream teas…it’s making me hungry just talking about!
Brentor church and Bovey Castle
Dan and Christine travelled all the way from Singapore to spend some time at Bovey Castle. They booked a few nights at Bovey Castle and booked in a post Covid photoshoot with me.
We also added in another gorgeous location, Brentor church. After a small shoot in the beautiful grounds of Bovey Castle and in the same spot that Dan proposed 3 years earlier, we headed out in the clear crisp February sunshine across the high moors to Brentor church for a climb to the top and some pictures. It was spectacular at the top, such a clear day and we could see for miles around and very quiet on Monday afternoon in February. I have shot lots of amazing photos and portrait sessions at this location, the weather can be quite fierce at this exposed location. But that can also add to the drama of the photos. It’s also great to have a little look inside the church and gaze at the intricate stained glass windows. You can get married here …I am hoping and waiting for an enquiry to come in and I will be skipping up that hill ready to take some pictures,
Dartmoor photoshoots and local information
If you would like to enquire about a photoshoot on Dartmoor please do drop me a line and we can chat about your portrait session. There are so many lovely spots that are all in easy distance of some beautiful places to stay on the edges of Dartmoor national park. There are stunning river walks with stepping stones, stone circles, clapper bridges and stunning forest walks are all in easy distance of Chagford, Mortonhampstead or Widecombe in the Moor.
There are a few pubs that can’t be missed either… in my opinion,…and can be added onto the photoshoot. The Rugglestone is one of my favs as is The warren house inn – the views are amazing! and no trip to Dartmoor should be without a pint of Otter Ale ….and a pasty perhaps! Happy to suggest some fabulous walks and your four legged friends are more than welcome. We love Dogs on Dartmoor and you will find lots of dog friendly pubs and accommodation across Dartmoor national park.
